you still are

I recently watched a heartfelt video on Facebook where a woman expressed her gratitude to people who believed in her when she didn’t believe in herself. 
 
I needed to hear that.  We often hear the message that we need to love ourselves or other people won’t love us.  There is a great deal of truth to that because if we don’t love ourselves, we won’t feel worthy of protecting ourselves from people who hurt us.  But what about the times when we don’t believe in ourselves or don't feel deserving of something good? Life is complicated, and sometimes we get tired, mixed up and turned upside down.
 
When babies are born, do they have to learn how to love themselves before someone else can love them and hold them?  No, they just deserve love because they were born.  You were once a baby, beautiful and small and alive, and you deserve love now as much as you did then. 
 
Today, even if you don’t feel worthy of loving, and you don't love yourself; you still are deserving of love.  Say something kind to someone you love because maybe they forgot how much they matter.
